In Janela de Mercado , a NeoFeed program that gives voice to leading stock strategists and analysts, Marcella Ungaretti, head of ESG research at XP, selects five stocks that, in the firm's view, manage to combine solid financial fundamentals with a good position in environmental, social, and governance criteria.

For her, it no longer makes sense to separate the two analyses. ESG and return go hand in hand, especially in the long term. Companies that make progress on issues such as energy transition, climate risk management, governance, and social impact tend to reduce risks, improve efficiency, and consequently generate shareholder value.

Although she believes that Brazil is still in its early stages of ESG practices when compared to Europe, Marcela states that the country has clearly evolved in recent years, with greater transparency and more ambitious goals from companies.

Before choosing which companies to invest in, however, she issues a warning: attention must be paid to the risk of greenwashing . "It's necessary to understand what is being done in practice and what results are already being delivered," she says.
